"We have produced an organic silk soap that is rich in sericin, which protects the outside of the silk threads that cover natural cocoons. Sericin is a protein that is the same as the amino acids found in human skin, it naturally moisturizes, and has superior properties to collagen. This silk soap is rich in moisturizing power and is highly recommended for those with sensitive skin who are concerned about dryness and itching. It also has excellent antioxidant properties, and is expected to be effective in preventing atopic dermatitis, blemishes, wrinkles, and ultraviolet rays. The silk soap has been analytically tested by a Japanese testing institution, and we have started selling it mainly in Cambodia."

[Manufacturing process]
This product was developed in collaboration with silkworm farmers in Takeo Province, Cambodia. Natural cocoons produced by silkworms raised on mulberry leaves are soaked in oil, steamed, and sericin hydrolyzate is extracted and added to the soap. Steam for about 2 hours until the sericin aqueous solution is extracted. A typical bar soap contains about 30% water, but our silk soap contains only about 10% water. The rest is filled by adding sericin aqueous solution. Our soap is made only from natural ingredients and does not contain any harmful chemicals.
[Sericin's skin-beautifying effects]
Silk thread is composed of fibroin, a central core, and sericin, which is attached to the surface. Sericin is a type of water-soluble natural protein, and accounts for about 30% of silk thread. The amino acid composition of sericin is very similar to the natural moisturizing factor that is essential for the formation of human skin, and since it is made up of about 40% amino acids with hydroxyl groups (serine and threonine), it has excellent "moisturizing function" and "antioxidant effect."
Serine contains ingredients that play an important role in the "moisturizing function." Serine is the most abundant amino acid among the natural moisturizing factors in human skin, and as a moisturizing ingredient it retains moisture for a long time. Because it is less irritating to the skin, it is used as an excellent skin care ingredient for moisturizing, whitening, and rejuvenating the skin.
"Antioxidant effect" refers to the ability to suppress the action of active oxygen generated in the body due to factors such as a weakening of the skin's barrier function, aging, ultraviolet rays, and stress. It is expected to be effective in preventing age spots, wrinkles, and atopic dermatitis. It also absorbs ultraviolet rays, and its UV care effect has been attracting attention.
[What made me start silk soap?]
We are specialized in fashion design and produce many clothing items. We have used local silk fabric as the lining of our clothing, which is soft to the touch. Many customers have experienced the moisturizing effect of silk on the skin and have praised the use of silk. We focused on the natural protein that silk originally contains, which is the cause of this, and tried making silk soap, which made our skin feel very smooth. We thought this might be good for our skin, so with the cooperation of silk farmers, we decided to start producing and selling silk soap that contains natural ingredients that moisturize the skin. Cambodia's silk resources, which take advantage of the geographical advantage, are still wonderful, and we also aim to create sustainable and safe products for the community.
[Origin of Golden Silk Color]
Some Cambodian silk products are made by raising silkworms and mulberry leaves in Cambodia, boiling the resulting cocoons, and spinning them into thread. Unlike silkworms in other countries, they spit out golden-colored threads, which is why they are commonly called "golden silk." Silkworms in this region are rare and many of them have not been bred, so the threads they spin are generally short, at around 300 meters, but they are of high quality and have excellent texture and durability.
